Kyana Bubb - Air Traffic Controller, Children’s Author, Aviation Enthusiast

Guest: Kyana Bubb

Today, Kyana talks about about relentless pursuit of one’s interests, the responsibility aviation owns as regards climate sustainability and the path she took in writing her first children’s book. A local college student purusing aviation also gets the chance to speak with Kyana to discuss her experience in the field and receive direct advice about the process.

We hope you enjoy the journey on today’s Pathway!

23-year-old Kyana Bubb grew up in Archibald Avenue, St. George, Grenada as the first of two Aviation enthusiasts in her household. She attended the St. Joseph’s Convent, St. George, then went on to the T.A. Marryshow community college where she graduated with an Associate’s degree in Geography and Mathematics. Three months after graduating, she started working at the Maurice Bishop International Airport as an Aeronautical Information Services Officer. Kyana was soon given the opportunity to take up the challenge of pursuing a diploma in Aerodrome and Approach Control, and in March of 2019, she graduated successfully with a diploma from the Civil Aviation Training Centre, Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, she’s been working as a certified Air Traffic Controller at the Maurice BIshop International Airport. Recently, Kyana has added the title of author to her list of roles. In late 2020 she wrote a children’s story book on women in aviation, self-publishing in February of 2021. Kyana’s passion and drive for aviation and specifically to highlight women in aviation encouraged her to write this book, encouraging more young women to join the field. Her long-term aspiration is to become a pilot.
